Volunteer
The Gift of Time & Talent
Al-Van relies on volunteers to assist our small, hard working staff with the day-to-day care and enrichment of our shelter animals, as they await their forever homes. Volunteers are critical to assisting us with meet & greets in the community (adoption fairs), hosting successful fundraising events, transporting animals to medical appointments, and helping take in donated goods at our resale store, Rescued Treasures. If you have time to give, please complete the volunteer application or contact our volunteer coordinator at volunteers@al-van.org or call 269-637-5062

A New Way to Give
Al-Van Humane Society started an endowment fund with the South Haven Community Foundation (SHCF) at the start of 2018. Al-Van was the recipient of an anonymous $4,000 matching donation to start our endowment fund in January. We hope our supporters recognize our efforts for planned long-term stability, fiscal responsibility, and financial viability for the next 50 years. Please consider an endowment gift, which will be invested, and serve as a permanent tribute to your dedication to care for our community’s homeless animals for future generations.
Donating to our endowment fund is simple. Checks should be made out to the South Haven Community Foundation, with the notation “Al-Van Endowment” in the memo section on the bottom of your check. Mailing address is: South Haven Community Foundation, P.O. Box 507, South Haven, MI 49090. You can also drop off your check at the shelter.
The South Haven Community Foundation was established in 2005 as a non-profit organization, to enrich the community, particularly in the areas of education, economic development, and arts & culture. This mission is accomplished by growing endowments that will be large enough to sustain the many worthy non-profit initiatives in the South Haven area.
